15Dec2012 VietJetAir begins its flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Phu Quoc Island (in Rach Gia Gulf, southern Vietnam). The daily flight departs Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat Airport at 07:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 08:05 A.M. The return flights leaves Phu Quoc International Airport at 08:40 A.M and arrives back at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 09:30 A.M. The flights are with Airbus 320 with 180 seats.

Phu Quoc Island is a popular tourist attraction in Vietnam. The island is ringed with pristine sandy beaches. There are a quite a number of new luxury beach resorts and luxury hotels on Phu Quoc Island since 2007. Still, there is a serious lack of accommodations and air tickets to the island in high tourist seasons.

Vietnam is planning to turn Phu Quoc into a Special Economic and Administrative Zone. From Phu Quoc, the travellers can also continue the trip into Cambodia or the Mekong Delta.
