The Khuoi Ky Ancient Village is 90km northeast of Cao Bang City, right on the Chinese border. The road between Cao Bang and Ban Gioc travels through idyllic valleys, sublime limestone mountains and ethnic villages.

Overview
The Khuoi Ky Village is in Dam Thuy Commune, Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang Province. Khuoi Ky is amid a pristine landscape with towering mountains around and the Khuoi Ky River to the front. There are 14 Tay families living a traditional life at Khuoi Ky.
In 16th century when Mac withdrew to the northern mountains that was when the village of Khuoi Ky was founded. The villagers built houses from stones which remain until today. One of the reasons that the houses were built of stone was that they could be turned into fortresses given the historical context when the village was founded.
Since the village was close to the famed Ban Gioc Waterfall, some visitors stray off and visit Khuoi Ky as a side trip. Gradually more travelers travel to the village and spend more time here, several stay overnight with local families. Khuoi Ky is now on the map for most travelers to Cao Bang.

How to get there
The Khuoi Ky Village is 2km from the Ban Gioc Waterfall, the village is in between the Ban Gioc Waterfall and the Nguom Cao Cave. From Cao Bang City to Ban Gioc you travel via the provincial road of 206, the Khuoi Ky Village and the Nguom Ngao Cave are close to each other on your right from where you proceed 2km further to the Ban Gioc Waterfall which is then to your left.
