Ba Be National Park in Bac Kan Province is known for forested imposing mountains, serene lakes and rivers, and genuine local ethnic people. The national park is a good place to get relaxed amid untouched nature and far from the crowd.

Travel Guide to Transport between Ba Be National Park and Hanoi

Ba Be National Park is 210km via Dinh Hoa (Thai Nguyen) and Cho Don (Bac Kan) and 230km via Bac Kan City. The former route is with small roads and nice countryside scenery and less traveled while the latter is with excellent road with panoramas of the mountains along the way.

1/ By private car

The road trip by private car is the most convenient way to travel from Hanoi to Ba Be National Park. There are 2 routes as mentioned above and each is with its own beauty. Traveling by private car allows you to stop for photography anytime on the trip. The road journey takes 5-6 hours.

There is a new express way to Bac Kan from Hanoi which shortens much the travel time

2/ By local bus

There are many local buses from Hanoi to Bac Kan City from the bus station of My Dinh. You’ll have to take local buses to travel 60km from Bac Kan City to Ba Be National Park. Only some bus companies travel directly from Hanoi to Bac Kan City and then to Ba Be National Park. The ticket cost is 100.000VND-150.000VND/one-way ticket. All buses have air-conditioning nowadays. A bus trip should take about 6 hours to get to Ba Be National Park from Hanoi.

Route 3 which connects Hanoi to Bac Kan City from where we can travel to the Ba Be National Park via Route 279 or Provincial Route 258

There are only a couple of bus companies which travel direclty from Hanoi to Ba Be National Park via Dinh Hoa and Cho Don. The buses on this route are small ones (16-seater van or 30 seater coach).

3/ By motorbike

It is a lovely experience to travel to Ba Be National Park from Hanoi by motorbike. You can take either of the above routes and the road trip takes 7 hours. The trip via Bac Kan City is with great roads and the trip via Dinh Hoa is with lovely scenery and less traffic. Traveling by motorbike is also more convenient for exploring Ba Be National Park more thoroughly. It is a large area after all.

There is a back road that is wonderful for bicycle tours or motorbike adventure tours to the Ba Be National Park

4/ By bicycle

It is possible to travel from Hanoi to Ba Be National Park by bicycle and the trip should take a whole day. It is recommended to take the route via Dinh Hoa with less traffic and small roads. Traveling by bicycle at Ba Be National Park is convenient as you can explore the villages which are connected to main roads by small paths.
