How to travel from Hanoi to Lang Son

Lang Son City is the provincial capital of Lang Son Province. Lang Son City is 150km northeast of Hanoi. Lang Son City is right on the border with China and there are several tourist attractions in the city. Lang Son City is a good stopover for those who are on an adventure to the Northeast of Vietnam. By private car: the road trip by private car is the most convenient way to travel from Hanoi to Lang Son. Road 1A is excellent and the road trip takes about 2 hours.

By local bus: There are several local buses from Hanoi to Lang Son from the bus stations: My Dinh and Giap Bat. Many bus companies pick the passengers up at their personal address. The ticket cost is 200.000VND-250.000VND/one-way ticket. All buses have air-conditioning nowadays. A bus trip should take about 3-4 hours to get to Lang Son from Hanoi.

By train: The daily train from Hanoi to Lang Son departs the capital at 0700A.M and arrives at Lang Son at 1120A.M. There are only hard seats or soft seats on this train.

By motorbike: Travel to Lang Son from Hanoi by motorbike is a good adventure. You can either take the old 1A Road or the new expressway. The former passes through residential areas and you can have a glimpse of the daily life of the locals. Do not forget to stop at Chi Lang Passage, a famed historical passage marking so many victories of the Vietnamese over the Chinese invaders during thousands of years of history.

By bicycle: It is possible to travel to Lang Son from Hanoi by bicycle which should take a full day. It is recommended you take the old Route 1A which has less traffic than the highway.
