The Dau Pagoda was built in the 2nd century C.E and is the oldest Buddhist Pagoda in Vietnam. The pagoda was built when Luy Lau (Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh) was the capital city of Giao Chi.
Back then the region enjoyed thriving international trade and received quite a lot of Buddhist monks from India. The Vietnamese indigenous cults were also thriving back then and we can see blend of local cults and Buddhism at the Dau Pagoda in Bac Ninh.
How to get there
The Dau Pagoda can be reached by a bicycle trip or by car from Hanoi. The distance is 28km and the trip takes half a day.
