Buon Ma Thuot is the capital city of Dak Lak Province. The city is considered to be the capital of the coffee business in Vietnam. The city is fairly small which takes less than an hour to cover on foot. 1/ Dak Lak Museum
This is a great place to get to know the ethnic groups in Dak Lak Province as well as in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Visiting the museum, you’ll know more of their traditional costumes, cultures, traditional houses,…. The museum, which is right in the city, takes 1-2 hours to visit all.

2/ The Coffee village
The coffee village is located in Buon Ma Thuot City. This is where you learn about the coffee culture in Vietnam , about the different types of coffee Buon Ma Thuot offers.
3/Ako Dhong Village (Buon Co Thon)
The village is 2.5km north of Buon Ma Thuot City Center. The village is home to the Ede ethnic group with some of the traditional culture preserved.
4/ Gia Long, Dray Nur and Dray Sap Waterfalls
These magnificent waterfalls are 30km southwest of Buon Ma Thuot City, it takes half a day to visit them all. The waterfalls are surrounded by thin forests amid scenic nature. You can have a relaxing stroll amid the fresh nature, or embark on a cycling tour, white water rafting tour on the Serepok river.

5/ Yok Don National Park and Don Village
This amazing national park is to conserve the deciduous dipterocarp forest in the area. The national park is the only one of the type in Vietnam. Thanks to the unique habitats of the national park that the ecosystem here has its distinctiveness compared to those in other national parks in Vietnam. The Don Village (Buon Don) is a M’nong community in the Yok Don National Park which used to being specialized in domesticating wild elephants for centuries. Visiting the village you can learn about the Mnong People, their culture.
The Yok Don National Park or Buon Don Village is 50km northwest of Buon Ma Thuot City Center.
6/ The Lak Lake
The lake is 55km southeast of Buon Ma Thuot City, on route 27 between Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat. The lake is surrounded by idyllic countryside littered with villages of the M’nong and Ede Peoples. A trip to the Lak Lake includes a boat trip on the lake in a dugout canoe (piroque), a visit to the villages, a bike ride in the countryside. Elephant riding is discouraged now for their protection.
7/ Chu Yang Sin National Park
The national park is 20km east of Lien Son Township and the Lak Lake (Lak District), 75km southeast of Buon Ma Thuot City. The national park covers an area of nearly 60,000 hectares and the buffer zone of the national park is 183,000 hectares.
Chu Yang Sin is home to temperate forest and tropical dense forest. The site is by far completely off the beaten track. The Chu Yang Sin Peak is 2,442m above sea level. There are the Krong Bong, Krong No, Krong Kmars, Krong Ana,.. in the national park area. The ecosystem is tremendously rich in flora and fauna which makes it great for nature lovers and adventure travelers.
How to get there and away
By road: Buon Ma Thuot is 200km west of Nha Trang, 200km northwest of Da Lat, 360km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
How to get around
Most of the spots in the city are walk-able. Alternatively you can hire bicycles, rent motorbikes, or take a ride on a horse-drawn cart to explore the attractions in the city. For tourist sites outside of the city, then you can travel by either car or scooter.
