How to travel from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Nha Trang

Nha Trang is 450km north of Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon). Nha Trang is a popular beach destination to both foreign visitors and Vietnamese tourists. The city is famed for beaches, turquoise blue sea water and colorful coral reefs. The convenient means of transportation to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang are as follows:

By air: The trip by air starts at Tan Son Nhat Airport and arrives at Cam Ranh Nha Trang Airport after a one-hour flight. The airport in Saigon is 8km from the city center and that in Cam Ranh – Nha Trang is 40km south of Nha Trang City.

 By private car: The road from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang is in good conditions, but the traffic can be very busy. There is a great deal of the road traveling by the seaside which offers spectacular landscape. The road trip takes 9-11 hours.

By local bus: There are several bus companies operating daily buses from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang. The trip starts from Ho Chi Minh City’s Eastern Bus Station and concludes at Nha Trang City. The journey takes 10-12 hours.

By train: There are several train including luxury trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang. The journey takes 8-9 hours depending on each train. The starting train station is Saigon and the finishing one is Nha Trang. Both train stations are located close to the city centers.

By motorbike: Travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang by motorbike takes 10-14 hours. The traffic is busy, the scenes by the seaside are beautiful

By bicycle: The trip from Saigon to Nha Trang by bicycle takes a couple of days. The traffic is busy. If you wish to travel by bicycle, then it’s recommended to take a train trip to Phan Thiet first, then cycle on the scenic coastal road to Nha Trang.
