How to travel from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Ho Chi Minh City is 450km south of Nha Trang. The road from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City has a good part by the seaside with wonderful landscape. The convenient ways to travel from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City are as follows:

 By air: There are daily flights from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City, the flight time is 1 hour. Ho Chi Minh City Airport is 8km from Ho Chi Minh City City center. Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport is 40km from the city center.

By private car: The road trip by car brings you on a coastal road from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet where you continue inland on a highway to Ho Chi Minh City. The road conditions are good and traffic can be busy at certain part. The journey should take 8-10 hours.

By local bus: There are some bus companies operating daily buses from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City. The trip start from Nha Trang tourist quarter or Nha Trang’s Sothern Station and concludes at the Eastern Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City. The journey takes 9-10 hours.

By train: There are many day train and overnight trains from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City with soft seat cabins and sleeper cabins. The train journeys take approximately 9-10 hours. Both train stations are centrally located in each city.

By motorbike: The adventure by motorbike from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City is fun but not suitable for those who are not used to busy traffic in Vietnam. It’s recommended to break the journey at Phan Thiet (Mui Ne Beach) to make it more a relaxing experience.

By bicycle: Due to the long distance and busy traffic, traveling by bicycle from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City is not recommended. Fans of slow travel may like to take the coastal road for a couple of days then take a trip by car or train to Ho Chi Minh City.
