How to travel from Hanoi to Hue

Hue City is the provincial capital of Thua Thien Hue Province. Hue was the seat of the last Royal Court in Vietnam which left rich architectural and cultural legacy that can be visited nowadays. Hue is a must-see tourist attraction in Vietnam. Hue City is 680km south of Hanoi.

 By air: There are daily flights from Hanoi to Hue, the flight time is 1 hour. Hue Airport is 18km from Hue City center. Hanoi Noi Bai Airport is 40km from the city center.

By private car: the road trip by private car from Hanoi to Hue is via Route 1 which is in good conditions nowadays. The traffic is busy. The trip takes 14-16 hours.

By local bus: There are some tourist buses which depart Hanoi for Hue every evening near the Old Quarter of Hanoi on Tran Quang Khai Street. Alternatively there are several local buses departing Hanoi for Hue every day from various bus stations: Giai Phong, Yen Nghia.

By train: There are many overnight trains from Hanoi to Hue with soft seat cabins and sleeper cabins. The train journeys take 12 hours. Hue Train Station is 2km from the city center.
