How to travel from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Ha Tien

Ha Tien in Kien Giang Province is 350km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon). Ha Tien is located right on the border between Vietnam and Cambodia and there is an international border crossing. The convenient means of transportation to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Tien are as follows:

 By private car: The road from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Tien is in good conditions; there are quite a few routes though. The journey takes over 8-9 hours.

By local bus: There are several bus companies operating daily buses from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Tien. The trip starts from Ho Chi Minh City’s Western Bus Station and concludes at Ha Tien Bus Station. The journey takes over 8-9 hours.

By motorbike: Ha Tien surely can be reached by motorbike from Saigon, the trip takes a full day. There are several attractions for visiting on the way: floating market, coconut forest, Khmer pagodas, stork sanctuaries… It is recommended to break the journey into a few days to visit the attractions on the way.

By bicycle: Road trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Tien by bicycle should take a few days. It is a hard yet interesting adventure that introduces you into the local lifestyle and ecotourist sites.
