In the morning of 23-August 2025, the tropical depression was in the East Sea strengthening to be a typhoon, internationally coded Kajiki.

16:00 Position: (17.6°N; 114.4°E), 230 km east northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel Islands of Vietnam); wind speeds: 75-102 kph; projected path: wnw traveling at 20-25 kph.
