Typhoon No.5 in Vietnam in 2018 (Barijat)

11Sept2018: Tropical depression is strengthening to be a tropical storm, a typhoon - Barijat, the 5th tropical storm which hits Vietnam in 2018. At the same time, another already formed typhoon Mangkhut in the northwest of the Pacific Ocean is to strengthen to be a Super Typhoon which may barrel towards the North of the East Vietnam Sea in the next 4 days.

The 4th typhoon to hit Vietnam in 2018 - Bebinca is expected to come into the Gulf of Tonkin in the morning of 16August2018 and to hit the coast of North Vietnam from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh in the early morning of 17August2018. Heavy rains are expected in the North and the north of the Central Region of Vietnam from the night of 16August2018.

Due to heavy rains in northern Vietnam and north of the Central Regions of Vietnam from 13-July-2018, there have been floods in Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh. Travelers to theses provinces now should exercise care and it is recommended to check with local travel agencies and tour operators for latest updates on the weather and road conditions.

Floods in the Far North of Vietnam-June2018

Due to heavy rains from 22-25June2018 in the far nothern mountains of Vietnam, there have been devastating flash floods and landslides in the region: Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Lao Cai. Traffic has been obstructed for several hours. Traveling in the region is not recommended at the moment.

Adventure Travel Officially Recognized in Da Lat

10 local tour operators and travel agents were licensed to operate adventure tours by The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong Province on 20July2017. This is the first time that adventure travel has been officially recognized by the authority.

Speedboats for Soc Trang and Con Dao Island

From 14July2017 Superdong started operating speedboat trips between Soc Trang and Con Dao Island. The boat departs Soc Trang everyday at the Port of the Police Border of Tran De District (Soc Trang Province) at 0800 A.M and arrives at Ben Dam Port on Con Dao Island after 150 minutes. The return trip starts from Con Dao at 13:00.

Thailand extends stays for medical tourism

Visitors to Thailand from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and China for medical purposes are to enjoy a stay of up to 90 days. The new policy comes into effect from 12July2017. The earlier policy allowed for a 30-day stay. This is a part of a strategy by the Thai government in efforts to turn Thailand into one of the biggest destinations in the World for medical tourism.

Vietnam Airlines Suspends Pleiku Flights

According to announcements from Vietnam Airlines, the air firm is to suspend all Pleiku flights from 15-March-2015 to 25-October-2015 for the upcoming airport expansion. Tickets for these flights which have been issued are to be refunded fully. The passengers with issued ticket can change the flight to a nearby arrival/departure airport at Buon Ma Thuot or Quy Nhon with reduction or surcharge based on the difference in airfares.

There are 3 return flights per week between Buon Ma Thuot - Hai Phong on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The new flight routes are to meet the huge demands for air travel between these destinations, especially the surge during the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan).
