There are strong winds inland from Quang Nam to Ninh Thuan, torrential rains in the Central Coast of Vietnam (from Hue to Ninh Thuan) and in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

 - 07:00 A.M Typhoon Matmo - Typhoon No. 5 which has strengthened is 260km east of the coastline of Binh Dinh - Khanh Hoa carrying sustained winds of 75-90kph. The projected path in the next 12 hours is wnw.

- 16:00 Typhoon Matmo - Typhoon No. 5 which has strengthened even further is 120km east from either Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh) or Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) carrying sustained winds of 75-100kph. The projected path in the next 12 hours is west.

   In the late morning of 18-October-2023 the tropical depression in the East-Vietnam Sea has strengthened to be Typhoon No. 5 in Vietnam in 2023, internationally coded Sanba.

In the afternoon of 05-October-2023, Typhoon Koinu entered the East Vietnam Sea becoming Typhoon No.4 in Vietnam in 2023.

In the early morning of 01-October-2024, Typhoon Krathon enters the north of the East Vietnam Sea becoming the No. 5 typhoon in Vietnam in 2024.

04:00 A.M: The position of Typhoon No 5 is (20.6; 119.8), sustained wind speeds of 184-201 kph, projected path is wnw covering 5 kph. The typhoon is not likely to have impact in Vietnam.

12October2020 A new tropical depression which is the No. 7 in Vietnam in 2020 forms on the East Sea of Vietnam.

0100 A.M The Tropical Depression is 630km East Northeast of the Hoanng Sa Islands (Paracel Islands) packing sustained winds of 50-60kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is wnw covering 15-20kph.

21October2020 A new typhoon has passed through the Philippines and entered on the East Vietnam Sea. This is the 8th typhoon in Vietnam this year.

26October2020 Typhoon Molave has entered the East Vietnam Sea becoming Typhoon No. 9 in Vietnam in 2020.

0700 The Typhoon is right on the western side of the Central Philippines (and 650km east northeast of the Song Tu Tay Island, Vietnam) packing sustained winds of 115-135kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is west covering 20-25kph.

In North Vietnam, October is autumn. In October 2018 there were successive spells of winter monsoon at the beginning of the month and in the middle of the month which made the temperatures drop sharply. There were rains which accompanied the monsoons for 2-4 days each time. For most of the month the North has enjoyed sunny weather, breezy and chilly. The temperatures in the Northeast were from 12-27oC, in the Northwest 15-28oC, and 16-29 in the Red River Delta and the surrounding regions.

October is middle of autumn in the North, the most beautiful time here. The North have much more pleasant daily temperatures, there may be chances it gets chilly at night. There may be short-lived occasional rains and sometimes typhoons.
