Vietnam Weather in October 2019

October is middle of autumn in the North, the most beautiful time here. The North have much more pleasant daily temperatures, there may be chances it gets chilly at night. There may be short-lived occasional rains and sometimes typhoons.

In the Central Region, October is still beginning of the rainy season with more and more torrential and incessant rains. October is still the rainy season in the Central Highlands and South of Vietnam, it is more often to be cloudy everyday.

Below is the statistics of the weather and temperatures in Vietnam in October 2019.

1/ North of Vietnam
In the first week of 2019, there were some days that the North enjoyed one of the most beautiful weather periods in the North in 2019: mild sunshine, pleasant temperatures. Then, torrential rains came for a few days. It was typical autumn anyway.

- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): sun, clouds, some torrential rains, 21-33oC. Dong Van Plateau had sun, clouds, rains, 16-24oC.

- Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: sun, clouds, rains, 22-32oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, thunderstorms, 15-22oC. Mu Cang Chai had sun, clouds, thunderstorms, 18-25oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, showers, 22-32oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: sun, clouds, rains, 19-33oC.Moc Chau had sun, clouds, thunderstorms, 18-24oC.

- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): sun, clouds, rains, 25-31oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 26-33oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.

The second week of October 2019 marked more cloudy and rainy days. The Northeasterly Monsoon hit northern Vietnam in the mid week causing torrential rains in the far-northern mountains.

- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): sun, clouds, some torrential rains, 21-31oC. Dong Van Plateau had sun, clouds, rains, 16-23oC.

- Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: sun, clouds, rains, 19-31oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 14-21oC. Mu Cang Chai had most clouds, thunderstorms, 17-24oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, showers, 20-30oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: sun, clouds, rains, 18-32oC.Moc Chau Plateau had sun, clouds, thunderstorms, 16-22oC.

- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): had mostly sun, clouds, scattered rains, 24-30oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 24-32oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.

The third week of October 2019 was marked by the first major spell of Northeasterly Monsoon in northern Vietnam causing some rains and drops in temperatures.

- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): sun, clouds, some torrential rains, a couple of days with fabulous weather, 17-29oC. Dong Van Plateau had clouds, rains, lovely sun for two days, 14-20oC.

- The Northwest of Vietnam
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: sun, clouds, rains in the first half; lovely sun in the second half; 20-30oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 14-19oC. Mu Cang Chai had most clouds, rains, 17-21oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 20-29oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: sun, clouds, rains, 17-30oC. Moc Chau Plateau had sun, clouds, rains, 15-20oC.

- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): had mostly sun, clouds, rains, 22-29oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 22-30oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.

The fourth week of October 2019 marked by successive spells of Northeasterly Monsoon causing some torrential rains in northern Vietnam and making the temperatures drop in the North and North of the Central Coast (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh).

- The Northeast had mixed weather: sun, clouds, rains, some days with exceptionally nice weather, 11-29oC. Dong Van Plateau had sun, clouds, rains, 8-20oC.
- The Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: sun, clouds, rains in the first half; lovely sun in the second half; 14-30oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 9-22oC. Mu Cang Chai had sun, clouds, rains, 11-25oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 16-28oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: sun, clouds mostly, some isolated rains, 13-30oC. Moc Chau Plateau had sun mostly, clouds, some isolated rains, 11-21oC.

- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): had mostly sun, clouds, some rains, 17-28oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 16-29oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.

2/ The North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh)
The first week of October was with sun, clouds and isolated showers, 25-32C.

The second week of October 2019 the region had sun, clouds, some torrential rains, first Northeasterly Monsoon, 24-31oC.

The third week of October 2019 was characterized with sun, clouds, rains, some torrential rains making Vinh and Ha Tinh flooded, 22-30oC.

The fourth week of October 2019 was with cloudy and rainy days mostly, some days with sun, some torrential rains, 19-30oC.

3/The coastal areas in the Central Region of Vietnam (Central Coast of Vietnam including: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan)
In the first week of October 2019, the Central Coast of Vietnam had not come into the rainy season yet. This year it seemed later than usual.

- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, showers, 25-33oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, showers, 25-32C;
- Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, showers, 24-33oC.
- Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan: sun, clouds, rains, 24-32oC.

In the second week of October, the Central Coast was not in the rainy season as usual.

- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, rains, 24-32oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, showers, 24-32C;
- Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, isolated rains, 22-33oC.
- Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan: sun, clouds, isolated rains, 22-33oC.

Third week of October was with sun, clouds, rains.

- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, rains, 22-31oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, rains, 23-31C;
- Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, rains, 24-30oC.
- Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Ninh Thuan (Phan Rang Thap Cham), Binh Thuan (Phan Thiet Mui Ne): some sun, mostly clouds and rains, 24-33oC.

The fourth week of October was with rains and Typhoon No. 5 hitting in between Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa causing torrential rains.

- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: little sun, clouds, mostly rains, 22-33oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, rains, 22-31C;
- Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: little sun in the first half of the week, clouds, rains, 23-30oC.
- Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Ninh Thuan (Phan Rang Thap Cham), Binh Thuan (Phan Thiet Mui Ne): some sun, mostly clouds in the first half, rains for the second half of the week, 24-32oC.

4/ The Central Highlands of Vietnam (Kon Tum, Gia Lai - Pleiku, Dak Lak - Buon Ma Thuot, Lam Dong)
October is about the end of the rainy season. Let’s look at the weather in the Central Highlands of Vietnam in 2019.
In the first week, it was mostly with sun, clouds, t-storms, 20-30oC mostly, 18-28oC in Pleiku. Da Lat had sun, clouds, rains, 13-23oC.

The second week the Central Highlands had sun, clouds, isolated t-storms, isolated rains, some torrential rains in the south (Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc), 18-32oC. Bao Loc was flooded. Da Lat has sun, clouds, t-storms, rains, 12-25oC.

Third week was with mixed weather: sun, clouds, isolated rains, 20-30oC. Da Lat had sun, clouds, t-storms, 15-24oC.

The fourth week was with the tropical depression (weakened from Typhoon No. 5 in 2019) brushing through. It was mostly sun and clouds in the first half, rains in the second half of the week. The temperatures were 19-32oC and 19-27oC. Da Lat had clouds, isolated t-storms, 14-26oC and 14-21oC.

5/The South of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and the Mekong Delta)
October is about the end of the rainy season in southern Vietnam with daily short-lived rains, some torrential rains and mostly pleasantly warm temperatures.

In the first week of October 2019, there were torrential rains in South Vietnam putting an end to a week of nice weather at the end of September. There was a sudden flood in Binh Phuoc (Dong Xoai, Dong Phu).

- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds, rains, pleasant temperatures, 25-30oC in Vung Tau, 24-32oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, rains, 24-32oC.
- Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, t-storms, 28-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, showers, 25-30oC.

Second week was not as rainy as usual.

- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds, rains, pleasant temperatures, 26-31oC in Vung Tau, 24-33oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, isolated rains or t-storms, 24-33oC. Some torrential rains in Binh Phuoc.
- Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, some t-storms, 27-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, t-storms, 25-31oC.

Third week : sun, clouds, rains.

- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds, isolated t-storms, 26-32oC in Vung Tau, 25-33oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, isolated t-storms, little rain, 24-33oC.
- Con Dao Islands had clouds, t-storms, winds, 28-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, t-storms, 26-31oC.

The fourth week was with little sun, clouds mostly, isolated rains or t-storms.

- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had little sun, clouds, isolated t-storms or isolated rains, 26-31oC in Vung Tau, 25-33oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, isolated t-storms, little rain, 24-33oC.
- Con Dao Islands had clouds, isolated t-storms, 27-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had little sun, clouds, isolated t-storms or isolated rains, 26-31oC.
