Vietnam Weather in August

The 4th typhoon to hit Vietnam in 2018 - Bebinca is expected to come into the Gulf of Tonkin in the morning of 16August2018 and to hit the coast of North Vietnam from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh in the early morning of 17August2018. Heavy rains are expected in the North and the north of the Central Region of Vietnam from the night of 16August2018.

Halong Bay Authority has stopped granting permits to boats and overnight cruise junks to make tours on the bay from 10 A.M on 1-August-2019 due to the expected strike of the Wipha Typoon (No.3 Typhoon in the East Sea of Vietnam in 2019).

The amendments to Vietnam Immigration Law passed by the National Asssembly of Vietnam on 24-June-2023 is to come into effect from 15-August-2023. The changes to Vietnam's entry visas are as follows:

9-August-2019 Due to bad weather and flooded runway that Phu Quoc Airport flights were halted from 09:00 A.M to 20:30. The airport has resumed its normal operation after 20:30.

In the afternoon of 30-August-2023 Typhoon Saola entered the northeast of East Vietnam Sea becoming the third typhoon in Vietnam in 2023. The typhoon is packing sustained winds of 167-201kph. The projected path in the next 12 hours is west northwest.

0700 A.M Tropical Depression No. 3 is 200km west of the Luzon Island (The Philippines) packing sustained winds of 40-50kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is nne. The tropical depression could travel at 15-20kph speeds and could strengthen further to be a tropical storm.

1000AM The Typhoon is on 600km northeast of the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracel Island of Vietnam) packing sustained winds of 60-75kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is nnw covering 20kph.

1300 The Typhoon is on 570km northeast of the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracel Island of Vietnam) packing sustained winds of 60-75kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is nnw covering 20kph.

1600 The Typhoon is on 570km northeast of the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracel Island of Vietnam) packing sustained winds of 60-90kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is nnw covering 20kph making landfall in the south of China, Guangdong Province.

19August2020

1000AM The Typhoon is inland in the south of the Guangdong Province (China) packing sustained winds of 75-90kph. The projected path in the next 12 hours is nnw covering 20kph. The typhoon should have weakened to be a tropical depression again before melting away.

In the afternoon, the typhoon has weakened to be a tropical depression in Guangdong - Guangxi (China) carrying sustained winds of 50-60kph. The tropical depression will have weakened to be a low pressure air trough before melting away in the next 12 hours. This is the last update of this tropical depression/typhoon.

30-August-2025
In the morning the tropical depression strengthens to be a typhoon, internationally coded Typhoon No. 6 in 2025 (Nongfa).

In the monring of 27-August-2019 the Tropical Depression, which had formed in the east of the Philippines on 26-August-2019, has strengthened to be a typhoon, internationally coded Podul.

The low air trough has turned into a tropical depression.
