Bac Ninh Vietnam

Bac Ninh is adjacent to Hanoi, the provincial capital is 30km northeast of Hanoi. Most of the terrain of Bac Ninh is flat, a larger part of the province is a part of the Red River Delta. But there are mountains across the province.

Bac Ninh Province has a tropical monsoon climate: summer from April through July, autumn from late August through October, winter from November through February, spring from February through March. From June through October, it is typhoon season in northern Vietnam but historical records say the province has not suffered much from typhoons or tropical storms.

The But Thap Pagoda is in But Thap Village, Dinh To Commune, Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh Province. The pagoda  is among the oldest and most beautiful Buddhist Pagodas in Vietnam.

The Dau Pagoda was built in the 2nd century C.E and is the oldest Buddhist Pagoda in Vietnam. The pagoda was built when Luy Lau (Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh) was the capital city of Giao Chi.

The Ly Family had great contribution to Vietnam. King Ly Cong Uan laid the foundation for Vietnam as an independent kingdom. It was under the Ly Dynasty that education was much appreciated and praised and the first university of Vietnam (Dai Viet then) was built in the 11th century C.E.

The Kinh Duong Vuong Temple is in A Lu Village, Dai Dong Thanh Commune, Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh Province. The temple is on the southern bank of the Duong River.

The 11th century pagoda is located on the Phat Tich mountain which offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside: rice fields, mountains and the Duong River. The pagoda is in Phat Tich Commune, Tien Du District.

The Tieu Son Pagoda is in Tuong Giang Commune, Tu Son City, Bac Ninh Province. The pagoda was where King Ly Cong Uan who is considered among the most visionary kings in Vietnam grew up. King Ly Cong Uan was the one who moved the capital city of Vietnam from Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh) to Thang Long (Hanoi nowadays).
