Bird watching at Cat Tien can be done by jeep which assists you on a birding trail through the grassland of the national park. Alternatively, you can go birdwatching on bicycle through the grassland area of Cat Tien, but this may pose some dangers due to frequent presence of wild gaurs and elephants. Another option for birding at Cat Tien is on foot which is convenient around the headquarters of the national park, but this makes it difficult to travel farther afield.
A spot of Cat Tien National Park, which may be interesting for water fowls, is the Crocodile Lake. To get to this site, you have to take a jeep ride or bicycle ride for 9km from the national park administration quarters, then hike for 5km on a trail through thick forest. The experience is great if you do not mind trekking for 10km back and forth. And it may be not that interesting when it is too hot or rainy.
There are birding trails through various botanical gardens of Cat Tien National Park which are advised to have a local guide to know the paths well. It would be disastrous to get lost in the thick jungle.
Apart from birds, Cat Tien National Park is also a great spot in Vietnam for spotting and watching wildlife.
