Bird Watching in Vietnam

Cat Tien National Park in southern is a favorite birding place for Vietnamese bird watchers as well as seasoned birders from overseas.

Bird watching at Cat Tien can be done by jeep which assists you on a birding trail through the grassland of the national park. Alternatively, you can go birdwatching on bicycle through the grassland area of Cat Tien, but this may pose some dangers due to frequent presence of wild gaurs and elephants. Another option for birding at Cat Tien is on foot which is convenient around the headquarters of the national park, but this makes it difficult to travel farther afield.

Kim Son Mangrove Forest in Ninh Binh Province stretches over the communes of Kim Trung, Kim Hai, Kim Dong and Binh Minh Township of Kim Son District.

The birds with a red head in Vietnam could be:

1/ Scarlet-Backed Flowerpecker

Male: Remarkably with a scarlet or red stripe or line extending from the crown to the rump.

2/ Common flameback, also referred to as the common goldenback

4/ Red-headed trogon
