    1Mar2013 Air Astana officially announced starting flights between Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). These flights are on every Wednesday and Friday using Boeing 757 with 150 Economy Class seats and 16 Business Class seats. The flight from Almaty to Ho Chi Minh City transits via Bangkok (Thailand) which takes 9 hours and the return flight from Ho Chi Minh City is a direct one taking 7 hours.

  • Bangkok Airways has announced that it starts direct flights between Bangkok (Thailand) - Cam Ranh Nha Trang (Vietnam) from 25January2019. There will be 4 return flights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday with Airbus 319 Aircraft.

    6Jan2013 Cambodia Angkor Air begins its first flight between Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Airbus 321 aircrafts are to be used for these flights. This is the only daily flight between the two capital cities of Cambodia and Vietnam.

    Earlier, Cambodia Angkor Air started its first flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok (Thailand) on 30Nov2012. On this route, the air firm uses ATR72 with 67 seats.

    Cambodia Angkor Air, which started its operation in July 2009, is a joint-venture between Cambodia Government (51%) and Vietnam Airlines (49%). At the beginning, the airline only operated flights within Cambodia (Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, Siem Reap - Sihanouville), between Cambodia - Laos, and between Cambodia - Vietnam. With the successful operation, the airline has the ambition to expand its flights to Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore,...

  • The lowcost carrier, AirAsia, is planning to operate direct flights between Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) from 2November2018. There will be 4 flights per week for the start.

    2Oct2013 Etihad Airways officially begins daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). All flights are with Airbus 330-200 with 22 Business Class seats and 240 Economy Class seats. The flight departs Abu Dhabi at 0830 A.M, the return flight departs Ho Chi Minh City at 2030 P.M. The flight time is 7 hours 30 minutes. These flights help to faciliate air travel between Vietnam and the Middle East as well as between Vietnam and Europe.

    Finnair has announced its plan to begin seasonal direct flights to Hanoi from Helsinki in 2013 summer. The airline plans 3 flights per week from 14June2013 to 27October2013. With these direct flights, it takes only 5 hours to get to Europe from Vietnam. Earlier, Finnair had established its representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

  • South Korea biggest low cost Korea announces to start operating direct flights between Daegu (South Korea) - Da Nang (Vietnam) with 7 flights per week from 22Dec2018. There have been huge demands for Vietnam holidays in South Korea and Da Nang has been extremely popular a destination. In 2017, Da Nang received 1.3 million South Korean visitors. The city in the Central Region of Vietnam is famed for the blue sea and the stretch of white sand of several kilometers.

    From 10Dec2014 Jetstar Pacific starts daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. From Ho Chi Minh City, flight BL661 departs at 13:05; the return flight BL662 departs Bangkok at 15:20. All flights are with Airbus320 aircraft accommodating 180 Economy Class seats.

    The air firm is also starting flights between Hanoi - Bangkok from 29Mar2015.

    The new international airport on Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam is to be open in December 2012. Construction work started in November 2008 and completed in December 2012 with a runway of 3,000m in length and 45m in width. The second runway of 3000mx25m is to be constructed in 2020.

  • Qatar Airways is to launch direct flights between Doha (Qatar) - Da Nang (Vietnam) from December 2018. The air carrier, who has been successful in operating direct flights between Doha - Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Doha - Hanoi (Vietnam), would like to expand the operation to Da Nang, a beach city in the Central Region of Vietnam.

    According to Vietnam Aviation Authority, one of the two runways at Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport is to be closed for maintenance from 25February2013. The maintenance time is estimated to take 8 months. Because there will be only one runway in operation, flight schedules are to be adjusted accordingly.

  • South Korean low-cost carrier has announced to start direct flights between Incheon (South Korea) - Nha Trang (Vietnam) from February 2019. Apart from this flight, the air firm has got other flights between Seoul - Ho Chi Minh City, Seoul - Da Nang.

    Reparation of one of the two runways at Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport has been completed and the runway has been ready for flights again from 2July2013. Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport has two runways built by the Americans in 1965-1967 for military aircrafts. The runways were upgraded and renewed in 1992 and 2002 to accommodate the busy flight schedules and different commercial aircrafts. The closure of the runway caused a lot of shuffles in the domestic flights in Vietnam, as Tan Son Nhat is the busiest airport in the country.

    From 1June2013, VietJetAir begins its daily direct flights between Hanoi (Vietnam) and Bangkok (Thailand) providing more choices for the air travellers between to two cities as well as between Vietnam and Thailand. The flight from Hanoi departs at 1050 A.M and arrives at Bangkok at 1240 P.M. The return flight departs at 1335 P.M and arrives back at 1525.

    From 3-November-2014, VietJetAir is to begin daily direct flights between Hanoi and Siem Reap. The flight departs Hanoi at 17:15 and arrives at Siem Reap at 19:05, the return flight departs Siem Reap at 20:05 and arrives at Hanoi at 21:55.

    29Nov2012 VietJetAir, a privately-own air firm in Vietnam, announced its opening of flights between Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon, in Vietnam) and Bangkok (Thailand). The flights between these two cities are daily, 1 flight per day. From Ho Chi Minh City, the flight departs at 11:00 A.M and arrives at Bangkok SuvarnaBhumi at 12:30 P.M. The return flight departs Bangkok at 13:30 on the same day. There are huge demand for air travel between Vietnam and Thailand, mostly from leisure travel market. Travelers between the two countries are to benefit more from competitive prices.

    From 12-December-2014 VietJetAir is to begin direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Taipei (Taiwan). There are 5 flights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight from Ho Chi Minh City departs at 14:30 and arrives at 18:55 local time; the return flight departs at 20:00 and arrives at 22:25.

    28Jan2013 hosts a ceremony for direct flights between Moscow (Russia) and Nha Trang (Vietnam). At first, there is one flight per week between the two cities. At the end of 2013, Vietnam Airlines plans to have two direct flights per week. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand from Russian tourists for the travel destinations in the South Central Coast of Vietnam including Phan Thiet Mui Ne, Ninh Thuan and Nha Trang which are all known for untouched sandy beaches, luxury beach resorts and hotels and sunshine almost all year round.

    From Dec 2012, Vietnam Airlines is to begin direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Jakarta (Indonesia). Initially, the direct flights are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand for business and leisure travel between Vietnam and Indonesia. The route is currently operated by AirAsia only and the tickets are often booked out.
