Vietnam Typhoons in July

30-June-2019, 13:00-19:00 hours: A tropical depression forms in the northeast of the Paracel Islands of Vietnam. The projected path in the next 24 hours is wnw.

01:00 A intertropical convergence zone in connection with an air trough. The position range is (19.5–20.5°N; 119.6–120.6°E).

10:00 The air trough has strengthened to be a tropical depression. The position: (19.8°N; 118.8°E); wind speeds: 50-60 kph; projected path: west, covering 5-10 kph.

In the morning of 19-July-2025, Typhoon Wipha enters the East Sea (Vietnam) to become No. 3 Typhoon in 2025.

14-July-2023 A tropical depression crosses the Luzon Island (the Philippines) entering Vietnam East Sea.

16-July-2023 The tropical depression strengthens to be the First Typhoon in Vietnam in 2023, internationally coded Talim. The typhoon packs sustained winds of 75-102kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is northwest and west northwest.

17-July-2023 Typhoon Talim strengthens with sustained winds of 103-133kph. The projected path is west north-west.

18-July-2023

07:00 A.M Typhoon Talim is 100km east of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh Province) with sustained winds of 89-102kph. The projected path is west north-west covering 15km per hour. The typhoon is expected to hit the Chinese-Vietnamese border at 11:00 A.M.

27-July-2023 Typhoon Doksuri has crossed the Luzon Island (the Philippines) and entered the East Vietnam Sea becoming Typhoon No.2 in Vietnam in 2023.

At 10:00 A.M the Typhoon is packing sustained winds of 134-149kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is North Northwest.

At 13:00 the Typhoon carries sustained winds of 134-166kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is North Northwest. Given the projected path, the typhoon is not likely to have direct impact on the inland in Vietnam.

28-July-2023 07:00 Typhoon Doksuri is in the sea to the south of the Fujian Province (China) carrying sustained winds of 134-166kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is North Northwest. The typhoon is not to have direct impact to Vietnam.

Later in the morning Typhoon Doksuri has made landfall in the south of Fujian Province (China) and will have weakened to be a tropical depression. The typhoon does not have impact in Vietnam. This is the last update for this storm.

21-July-2024:

07:00 A.M The tropical depression which forms in the East Vietnam Sea strengthened to be a typhoon with sustained winds of 62-74kph. The projected path is wnw covering 10-15kph. The path of Typhoon No. 2 is to be changed by another typhoon in Japan which is forecast to push the one in Vietnam further west.

The low pressure air trough which entered the East Vietnam Sea on 28July2020 has strengthened to be a tropical depression, the second one in Vietnam in 2020.

The low air trough has turned into a tropical depression.

30-July-2019

07:00 A.M The tropical depresssion is 400km east of the Hoang Sa Islands of Vietnam (The Paracel Islands) carrying sustained winds of 40-50kph. The projected path in the next 24 hours is wnw. The tropical depression may strengthen to be a typhoon.

The sea to the north of the East Sea of Vietnam is rough due to the tropical depression.
