September is officially the beginning of the autumn in the North, the most beautiful time here. The North have much more pleasant daily temperatures, there may be chances it gets chilly at night. There may be short-lived occasional rains and sometimes typhoons.
In the Central Region, September is beginning of the rainy season with rains more on a daily basis especially coming toward the end of the month. September is still the rainy season in the Central Highlands and South of Vietnam meaning short-lived daily rains and the temperatures in these regions are just pleasant.
In September 2019, there were 2 tropical depressions vying for influence in the East Sea one of which made landfall in the provinces of Quang Tri - Thua Thien Hue. Floods from Nghe An to Quang Tri from 4-6September2019.
1/ North of Vietnam
In the first week of 2019, it was mostly cloudy or rainy days in all of northern Vietnam with fairly pleasant temperatures.
- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): sun, clouds, rains, some torrential rains in Ha Giang, 23-34oC. Dong Van Plateau was sun, clouds, rains, 18-26oC.
- Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: clouds and rains in the first half, sun mostly in the second half of the week, 24-34oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 19-27oC. Mu Cang Chai was mostly cloudy, 17-26oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 23-33oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: had sun, clouds, rains, 20-31oC mostly, 24-34oC in Lai Chau. Moc Chau had sun, clouds, isolated thunderstorms, 18-25oC.
- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): sun, clouds and rains, 26-32oC in Halong Bay and in Hai Phong, 25-34oC in the Red River Delta.
The second week of September 2019:
- The Northeast of Vietnam had some sun, mostly clouds, torrential rains, 22-31oC for half a week, 23-33oC for the rest of the week. The Dong Van Karst Plateau had sun, clouds, rains, some torrential rains, 17-26oC.

- The Northwest of Vietnam
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: some sun, clouds and rains, 24-33oC. Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 16-24oC. Mu Cang Chai had clouds and rains, 19-26oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 23-33oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: had sun, clouds, rains, 21-31oC for the fist half, 23-34oC for the second half. Moc Chau had sun, clouds, isolated thunderstorms, 18-26oC.
- The lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): sun, clouds, isolated rains, some torrential rains, 26-32oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 25-32oC/27-34oC in the the Red River Delta.
The third week of September 2019 was marked by lovely autumnal weather with bright sunshine and caressing wind mostly in the North. There were some torrential rains in the Northeast. The weather pattern was changing to be more of typical fall in the North.
- The Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): had sun mostly, some clouds, some torrential rains, 22-33/31oC mostly, 22-35/32oC in Ha Giang in the first and second half of September 2019.
The Dong Van Plateau in Ha Giang had sun, clouds, some rains, 17-26/14/23oC in the first and second halves of September..
- The Northwest of Vietnam
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: some sun, clouds and showers, 22-30oC/21-32oC respectively. Sapa had sun mostly, clouds, some rains, 15-25/14-23oC. Mu Cang Chai had sun, clouds and some rains, 19-27/16-23oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 20-31oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: had sun mostly, clouds, some showers, 20-30/22-33oC. Moc Chau had sun mostly, some showers, 17-25/18-21oC.
- The lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): mostly sun, some clouds and showers, 26-32/24-30oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 27-35/25-32oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.
The fourth week of September 2019 marked fall equinox on 23-September-2019 with lovely sunny days throughout the month.
- The Northeast had nice autumnal weather: lovely sunshine, pleasant temperatures, 16/17-31/32oC. The Dong Van Plateau had sun, 11-25oC.
- The Northwest:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: had sun, 18-32oC. Sapa had sun, 10-22oC. Mu Cang Chai had sun mostly, clouds, a day with little rain, 14-24oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, rains, 18-32oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: had sun mostly, some clouds, showers for a couple of days, 14-30/18-32oC. Moc Chau had sun mostly, 13-21oC.
- The lowlands (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh) had lovely bright sunshine, 20/21-30/31oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 21/22-31/33oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.
2/ The North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh)
The first week of September had mostly clouds and torrential rains, some sun in Thanh Hoa later in the week, 25-30oC mostly, 25-34oC for the last 2 days. Floods in Nghe An and Ha Tinh 2-6September2019.
The second week of September 2019 the region had some sun, clouds, thunderstorms, 25-32oC mostly, 27-35oC for a couple of days.
The third week of September 2019 was with sun, clouds and isolated showers, 26-33/24-30oC.
The fourth week of September 2019 was with sun mostly, some clouds, showers, 21-31oC.
3/The coastal areas in the Central Region of Vietnam (Central Coast of Vietnam including: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan)
In the first week of September 2019, a tropical depression made landfall between Quang Tri – Hue causing torrential rains and floods in Quang Binh – Quang Tri. It was mostly clouds and rains.
- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: clouds, rains, mostly, 25-30oC mostly, 26-32oC for a couple of days.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: clouds and rains mostly, 25-30oC for half a week, 26-33oC for the other.
- Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: rains and clouds mostly, little sun, 25-31oC for the first half of the week, 26-34oC for the second.
- Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan: little sun, clouds and rains mostly, 26-33oC mostly, 25-32oC in Binh Thuan.
In the second week of September, the Central Coast was mostly with pleasant weather.
- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, isolated thunderstorms, 25-33oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, rains 26-35C mostly, 25-32oC for a couple of days;
- Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, isolated rains, 25-35oC mostly.
- Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Ninh Thuan (Ninh Chu Beach), Binh Thuan (Phan Thiet Beach, Mui Ne Beach): sun, clouds, isolated rains, 25-34oC for most of the week, 25-32oC for a couple of days.
Third week of September was with sunny days mostly.
- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, isolated rains, 24-32/25-31oC mostly.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, some showers, 24-33C;
- Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, scattered rains, 25-31oC.

The fourth week of September was with sun mostly, some showers.

4/ The Central Highlands of Vietnam (Kon Tum, Gia Lai - Pleiku, Dak Lak - Buon Ma Thuot, Lam Dong)
September is deep in the rainy season and it was just like that in September 2019.
In the first week was mostly with clouds and rains, little sun, lovely temperatures, 22-29oC mostly, 20-26oC in Pleiku. Da Lat got clouds and rains, 17-21oC.
The second week, the regions had clouds, scattered rains, pleasant temperatures, 22-28oC mostly, 20-25oC in Pleiku. Da Lat had clouds, isolated rains, 16-24oC.
Third week was with mixed weather: little sun, clouds, rains, some torrential rains, 20-30/26/30oC. Da Lat had clouds, rains, 17-24/16-21oC.
The fourth week was with little sun, clouds, some rains, pleasant temperatures, 18-28/18-25/21-29oC in Kon Tum, Gia Lai and Dak Lak respectively. Da Lat had sun and clouds mostly, some little rains, 16-24oC.
5/The South of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and the Mekong Delta)
September is deep in the rainy season in southern Vietnam with more rains, pleasant temperatures, strong southwesterly wind, rough sea.
In the first week of September 2019, it was mostly typical September weather pattern.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had clouds and rains mostly, some sun, 26-31oC.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: some sun, clouds and rains mostly, 25-32oC.
- Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, strong winds, rough sea, scattered rains, 27-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had clouds and rains, strong winds, rough sea, 26-30oC.
Second week was with sun, clouds, torrential rains, pleasant temperatures, strong southwesterly wind, rough sea.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had clouds and rains mostly, some weak sun, 26-31oC in Vung Tau, 25-32oC mostly, .
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: some weak sun, clouds and rains mostly, 24-31oC/25-34oC.
- Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, winds, rough sea, isolated thunderstorms, 28-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had clouds and rains, some torrential rains, strong winds, rough sea, 26-30oC.
Third week was with clouds, scattered rains, pleasant temperatures, strong Southwesterly Monsoon, rough sea from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to Kien Giang.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds and showers, pleasant temperatures, 26-29oC in Vung Tau, 24-31oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: little sun, clouds, rains, 24-30oC.
- Con Dao Islands had clouds, thunderstorms, strong wind, rough sea, 27-28oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had rains, some days with strong wind and rough sea, 26-28oC.
The fourth week was with sun, clouds, rains, pleasant temperatures.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had little sun, clouds, pleasant temperatures, 25-30oC in Vung Tau, 24-32oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, isolated thunderstorms, 24-33oC.
- Con Dao Islands had clouds mosstly, some thunderstorms, strong wind and rough sea on some days, 27-29oC.
