General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in May
May is beginning of summer in northern Vietnam with more likely dry weather, with showers sometimes, and with pleasant temperatures (23-33oC) or warm temperatures at times.
May is the dry season with hot temperatures in the Central Coast of Vietnam. This region is to experience bright sun, and with warm or hot temperatures throughout the month. There are days that the temperatures may get hot (above 36oC).

- The Westerly Wind, which comes from the Equator and which is a foehn wind after blowing through the Myanmar, Thailand, Laos before hitting part of the Northwest, part of the Central Coast (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Hue), causes clear skies, dry air and hot temperatures. This wind is a regional version of the Southwesterly Wind.
- The Southwesterly Wind, which comes from the Equator, causes daily showers in the Central Highlands and in southern Vietnam. This wind helps to bring pleasant temperatures in southern Vietnam and in the places on low altitudes of the Central Highlands.
