General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in July
July is summer in northern Vietnam with mostly dry weather, possibly some showers, pleasant or warm or hot temperatures (24oC-36oC) . There may be typhoons hitting northern Vietnam in July which often caused torrential rain, flash floods, and/or landslides in the far northern mountains.
July is the dry season with hot temperatures in the Central Coast of Vietnam.
July is the rainy season in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam. The temperatures in the Central Highlands are 19-30oC and those in southern Vietnam are 25-32oC.
The prevalent winds in Vietnam in July are
- The Southeasterly Wind that affects northern Vietnam and causes moist air in the Red River Delta.
- The Southwesterly Wind coming from the Equator which causes daily rain in the Central Highlands and in southern Vietnam.
- The Westerly Wind, which is in fact the Southwesterly Wind, affects the Central Coast of Vietnam. This wind, which is a foehn wind in the Central Coast, is less likely to have effects on part of the Northwest of the country such as Son La, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai. The affected places are often to have dry weather with warm or hot temperatures (24-36oC plus).
Possible Dangers From Extreme Weather: Snow in the mountains of the North of Vietnam
There are chances of dangerous weather in far northern Vietnam in July which is often a result of torrential rain.
