February is the end of the winter and beginning of spring in the North of Vietnam; the beginning of the dry season in the Central Coast, the dry season in the Central Highlands and South of Vietnam.
During this time it is still cold in the North of Vietnam with some light drizzles and damp air. There may still be some rain in the Central Coast but it is mostly sunny weather with extremely pleasant temperatures. The temperatures are pleasant or cold in the Central Highlands. There may be a few days of warm temperatures in the South of Vietnam, but mostly pleasant temperatures.
The cold Northeasterly Monsoon can be strong or weak in the North of Vietnam depending on each year. There are some days the North is affected by the Southeasterly Monsoon which may cause damp air and thick fog.
Below is our statistics of Vietnam weather in February 2020.
1/ North of Vietnam
In the first week of 2020, there were two successive spells of cold Northeasterly Monsoon hitting northern Vietnam. At the same time, the Southeasterly Monsoon was also active which made the air damp and thick fog in the morning. It was mostly damp, foggy and rainy in the North.
- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): clouds, rain, 11-22oC. Dong Van Plateau had clouds, rain, 9-14oC.
- Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: little sun, clouds, rain, 13-24oC. Sapa had little sun, clouds, rain, 8-16oC. Mu Cang Chai had clouds, rain, 9-20oC. Mai Chau had clouds, isolated rain, 15-24oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: little sun, clouds, and isolated rain, 10-26oC. Moc Chau had little sun, clouds, rain, 10-18oC.
- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): had clouds, light rain, damp air, 15-23oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 16-24oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.
The second week of February 2020 began with a strengthening spell of cold making it cold all over; there was rain in most of the North.
- Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen): had clouds, rain, 10-27oC. Dong Van Plateau had some sun, clouds, rain, 8-20oC.
- Northwest of Vietnam:
+ Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai: sun, clouds, isolated rain, 12-31oC. Sapa had sun, clouds some isolated rain, 8-20oC. Mu Cang Chai had sun, clouds, isolated rain, 11-22oC. Mai Chau had sun, clouds, some isolated rain, 13-31oC.
+ Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau: little sun, clouds, isolated rain, 9-31oC. Moc Chau had sun, clouds, 9-24oC.
- Lowlands (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh): little sun, clouds, thick fog, damp air, isolated rain, 13-24oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong, 13-28oC in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.
2/ The North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh)
The first week of February was with little sun, clouds and isolated rain, 16-26oC.
3/The coastal areas in the Central Region of Vietnam (Central Coast of Vietnam including: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan)
In the first week of February 2020, the Central Coast of Vietnam had nice weather: mostly sun, clouds, pleasant temperatures.
- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue: sun, clouds, 16-28oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An: sun, clouds, 18-29oC.
- Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen: sun, clouds, some isolated rain, 16-31oC.
- Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan: mostly sun and clouds, 18-31oC.
4/ The Central Highlands of Vietnam (Kon Tum, Gia Lai - Pleiku, Dak Lak - Buon Ma Thuot, Lam Dong)
February is the dry season and it was lovely with sun and pleasant temperatures in February 2020, no doubt, it was the best time for family holidays and adventure tours in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
In the first week was mostly with sun, lovely temperatures, 10-34oC. Da Lat had sun, clouds, 9-27oC.
5/The South of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and the Mekong Delta)
February is the dry season in southern Vietnam with mostly sun, clouds and pleasant temperatures.
In the first week of February 2020, the South of Vietnam had mostly nice days with sun and pleasant temperatures. On some days, it warm a bit warm.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds, 23-28oC in Vung Tau, 21-34oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, 18-35oC.
- Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, strong winds, rough sea, 22-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, some days with strong winds, 24-30oC.
