General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in December
December is winter in northern Vietnam with more likely dry weather and with pleasant or cold temperatures (10-22oC) . There is no typhoon hitting northern Vietnam in December.
If there is a typhoon in December, then it is more likely that they have impacts on the Central Coast of Vietnam or southern Vietnam.
December is the rainy season in the Central Coast of Vietnam which is often caused by the Northeasterly Monsoon bringing moisture from the sea inland, and high mountains to the west of the region blocking clouds.
December is the dry season in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam. The temperatures in the Central Highlands are 16-26 oC and those in southern Vietnam are 21-31 oC.
The prevalent winds in Vietnam in December are
- The Northeasterly Monsoon which may come from Tibet or Siberia which causes cool weather in northern Vietnam and rainy weather in the Central Coast of Vietnam.
It is the same wind that causes dry weather with pleasant or cold temperatures in the Central Highlands and dry weather with pleasant temperatures in southern Vietnam.
Possible Dangers From Extreme Weather: Snow in the mountains of the North of Vietnam
There are chances of dangerous weather in far northern Vietnam in December which is often a result of cold temperatures and snow, or frosts.
