General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in December
December is winter in northern Vietnam, the rainy season in the Central Coast of Vietnam. December is the beginning of the dry season in the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam. The temperatures should be cold in Northern Vietnam and part of the Central Coast, pleasant in the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam.
The prevalent wind in Vietnam mostly in December is often the cool Northeasterly Wind. This wind may approach Northern Vietnam from the coast or blows through inland only: the former case causes light rain in the North and the latter case causes dry and pleasant weather in this region.
The Northeasterly Wind always causes rainy weather in the Central Coast of Vietnam.
It may be possible that there may be typhoons in the Central Coast of Vietnam in December, though the chances are extremely rare.
The Northeasterly Wind causes rough sea all over Vietnam from the North to the South including the Con Dao Islands and the Phu Quoc Island.

First 10 Days of December 2023
There were 02 spells of the cold Northeasterly Wind in Vietnam on 1-December and 6-December which each caused half a day rain in the North, rain and heavy rain in the Central Coast of Vietnam and part of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The temperatures were cold in the northern mountains, pleasant in most of the other regions, slightly warm in Southern Vietnam.
The weather patterns and temperatures in different regions at the beginning of December 2023 were as follows:

- Central Highlands: sun, 17-32oC.
- East of Southern Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh): sun, 24-34oC.
- West of Southern Vietnam ( The Mekong Delta): sun, clouds, rain, 24-32oC.
The Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, rain, 25-31oC.
The Con Dao Islands had sun, clouds, rain, 26oC.
Second 10 Days of December 2023
In the second 10 days of December 2023, the North had the first couple of days of beautiful weather with bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures; the Central Coast had some rain and cloudy days; the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam had pleasant temperatures and sunshine.
A new spell of the cold Northeasterly Wind shifted the weather patterns into cold winter in Northern Vietnam, rainy weather in the Central Coast.

16-December-2023 a strong and dry spell of the cold Northeasterly Wind started having impact on Vietnam: cold, windy and dry weather in Northern Vietnam with several places below 10oC. The cold wind caused rain in the Central Coast. The Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam enjoyed beautiful weather wild sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

In the last decade of December 2023, there were a few spells of the cold Northeasterly Wind which brought about cold temperatures in the North, rainy weather in the Central Coast, pleasant temperatures in the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam.
There was frost in some high mountains in Northern Vietnam like the Mau Son and Fansipan. The lowland of Northern Vietnam underwent cold days with beautiful sunshine.
