General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in April
April is spring in northern Vietnam with pleasant temperatures mostly (22-31oC), the dry and hot season in the Central Coast of Vietnam, in Southern Vietnam. In April, the Central Highlands has dry weather, the places on low altitude have hot temperatures and the remainder of the region has pleasant temperatures.
The prevalent winds in Vietnam in April are the Northeasterly Wind, Southeasterly Wind, Westerly Wind and Southwesterly Wind. Northeasterly Wind may approach Northern Vietnam from the coast or blows through inland only: the former case causes light rain in the North and/or high moisture in the lowland of Northern Vietnam, and the latter case causes dry and pleasant weather in this whole region. It is more likely in April that if there is a spell of Northeasterly Wind, then it is dry in the North with pleasant temperatures.
Most of the Northwest of Vietnam comes under the influence of the Westerly Wind or foehn wind from Laos which makes the air dry and the temperatures high (35-37oC): Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai.
The Central Coast of Vietnam is to come under the impact of the Westerly Wind which blows from Laos and which is a foehn wind, hence dry air and warm or hot temperatures with the high of 36-38oC.
The Central Highlands and inland of Southern Vietnam are to be under influence by the Southwesterly Wind which, in April, comes from the Bengal Bay and which blow through these two regions after blowing through the continent including India, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia... In April, the Southwesterly Wind is a foehn wind and the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam are to have dry weather. The temperatures are mostly hot in Southern Vietnam and in places on low altitudes in the Central Highlands. Most of the Central Highlands are to enjoy dry weather with pleasant temperatures thanks to high altitudes.
The sea should be calm all over Vietnam from the North to the South including the Con Dao Islands and the Phu Quoc Island in April.
Possible Dangers From Extreme Weather: Landslides, Rock Slides, Flash Floods
There are very low chances of weather dangers in Vietnam in April. In April, sunlight is strong, especially at mid days and the temperatures are high in several places. Possible health problems caused by extreme weather include: sunstroke, heatstroke, hails, dehydration.

First 10 Days of April 2024
At the beginning of April 2024 there was a heat strike in most places in Vietnam in the North, in the Central Region, in places on low altitudes in the Central Highlands, and in the South. The high temperatures by the heat strike reached over 39oC.
The weather patterns and temperatures in different regions at the beginning of the first ten days of April 2024 were as follows:

Second 10 Days of April 2024
In the second 10 days of April 2024, the North of Vietnam had pleasant temperatures mostly, Dien Bien had some days with warm temperatures.
The Central Coast of Vietnam had pleasant and slightly warm temperatures mostly.
Places in the Central Highlands on low altitudes and most of South Vietnam had dry weather with hot temperatures. These two regions had been suffering from serious lack of water, especially the Central Highlands and Mekong Delta.

In the last decade of April 2024, part of Northern Vietnam had some rain and pleasant temperatures thanks to a few consecutive spells of weak Northeasterly Wind.
There were hails in different places in northern Vietnam and in Nghe An Province. The worse hail took place in Van Ho (Son La) and Mai Chau (Hoa Binh) on 24-April.
In the second half of the last 10 days of April 2024, high temperatures and strong sun were found all over Vietnam.
