How to identify the dark blue-and-orange niltavas in Vietnam?
1/ Fujian Niltava (Niltava davidi)
Male
- Wings have brownish or blackish colors, no blue patch on the shoulders;
- Orange underparts get paler towards the vent.
2/ Rufous-bellied Niltava (Niltava sundara)
Male
- Blue shoulders;
- Brighter orange which is uniform in tone, coloration, intensity.
Apart from these two niltavas, there are vivid niltavas which are also similar but with a orange notch on the throat.
