The Lao Than Mountain is situated in Y Ty Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province. The mountain is 2,860m above sea level and is among the highest mountain peaks in Vietnam.

A trip to the peak of Mount Lao Than goes through pastures and patches of thin forest. Most of the time you will have breathtaking views of the mountain peaks in the proximity. Compared to other mountain climbing trips, an adventure to the peak of Mount Lao Than is fairly easy. But the last leg of the trip from 2,560m to 2,860m involves steep mountain slope and requires certain physical as well as mental efforts.
Trekking Tours
For fit travelers, you can take a 1-day trip to Mount Lao Than from Y Ty starting early in the morning and coming back in the early evening. For other travelers you may plan a 2-day tour with overnight at a hut at 2560m.
How to get to there
Hanoi – Lao Cai – Y Ty
You can travel to Lao Cai by road or by rail. By road it takes 5 days and by train it takes 9 hours. From Lao Cai you can proceed further to Y Ty by either car or motorbike.
