The Monkey Island is in Long Hoa Commune Can Gio District, 50km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The island covered in cajeput and melaleuca forest is part of Can Gio Forest, a UNESCO Global Biosphere Reserve.
Visiting the Monkey Island you will be greeted by hundreds of macaques who may snatch your belongings all of a sudden! So, you had better be prepared and protect yourself before enter the area. There are several trails in the forest that you can have a relaxing time.
Visiting the island, you should not miss a chance to visit the Sac Forest which was the base of an ultimate important commando unit of the South Vietnam Liberation Front. It was here that they took shelter and hid their troops before important battles in the vicinity and in Saigon.
