Quang Ninh Province has a tropical monsoon climate: summer from May through July, autumn from late August through October, winter from November through February, spring from February through April. From June through October or sometimes November, Quang Ninh may be affected by tropical depressions or typhoons.

Quang Tri has a tropical monsoon climate: summer from May through July, autumn from late August through October, winter from November through January, spring from February through March. From October through November, sometimes December, Quang Tri may be affected by tropical depressions or typhoons. It may rain for 3-7 days when affected by a typhoon or tropical depression which may cause floods and landslides in the mountains. Quang Tri is a coastal city/province and may suffer the worst damage by a typhoon.

Quy Nhon has a tropical monsoon climate with two seasons per year: dry season from late February through July, rainy season from late August through January. From December through January, Quy Nhon experiences cool temperatures (18-22oC) and from May to August Quy Nhon has hot temperatures (28-40oC).

From June through October, Thai Nguyen may be, but not often affected, by tropical depressions or typhoons; damage by natural disasters are very limited.

Thanh Hoa has a tropical monsoon climate: summer from May through July, autumn from late August through October, winter from November through February, spring from February through April. From June through October or sometimes November, Thanh Hoa may be affected by tropical depressions or typhoons. It may rain for 3-7 days when affected by a typhoon or tropical depression which may cause flash floods and landslides in the mountains. Thanh Hoa is a coastal city/province and may suffer the worst damage by a typhoon.

Bac Kan Province has a tropical monsoon climate: summer from April through July, autumn from late August through October, winter from November through February, spring from late February through March. Bac Kan also bears certain features of continental climate on high altitudes.

It rains more at the end of the rainy season in October and November. The hottest month of the year is April where for several weeks the temperatures reach 36oC or more daily.

Vung Tau has a tropical monsoon climate with two seasons per year: dry season from November through April, rainy season from May through October. The prevailing wind during the dry season is the Northeasterly Monsoon and during the rainy season is the Southwesterly Monsoon.

Yen Bai Province has a tropical monsoon climate with two main seasons: the cold season from November through March during which there may be light drizzles at the beginning and at the end; the hot season from May through September with torrential rains.
