Amid the concern of the widespread of the coronavirus disease (COV-19) the Vietnamese Government has decided to halt visa exemption policy for 8 European nations which are Danmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain.
The new policy is to start its effect from 10-March-2020.
From 03-March-2020 Vietnam halts the visa exemption policy to the Italian Nationals. This is a temporary measure to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus into Vietnam. Italy is surging numbers of newly infected cases of the coronavirus disease.
From 28-February-2020 Vietnam halts the visa exemption policy to South Korean Nationals. This is a temporary measure to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus into Vietnam. South Korea is another country apart from China with surging numbers of newly infected cases.
By far (28-February-2020), Vietnam has had 16 infected cases and all have been fully recovered and discharged from hospital. On 28-February-2020 US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have removed Vietnam from the list of countries with the danger of COVID-19 community widespread transmission.

Visitors to Thailand from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and China for medical purposes are to enjoy a stay of up to 90 days. The new policy comes into effect from 12July2017. The earlier policy allowed for a 30-day stay. This is a part of a strategy by the Thai government in efforts to turn Thailand into one of the biggest destinations in the World for medical tourism.

From 14-Mar-2014, foreign passport holders traveling to Vietnam can obtain a visa within 2 working days by applying online at the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam at visa.mofa.gov.vn. By applying online, the travellers can also keep track of their visa status.

From 10-Mar-2014, foreign passport holders who travel to Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang Province of Vietnam and whose stay on the island not exceeding 30 days are exempt from visa. If the trip to Phu Quoc Island involves a transit at another international border port of Vietnam by sea or by air, then visas are not required either.

Earlier in October 2013, the Governments of Vietnam and Myanmar have signed a pact waiving entry visa for nationals of one country to travel in the other in no more than 14 days.
Vietnam visa fees are increased from 1January2013 compared to earlier, according to Circular 190/2012/TT-BTC issued on 9November2012 amending Circular 66/2009/TT-BTC issued on 30March2009 prescribing the administration of fees related to immigration in Vietnam.

On 31July2012, the Vietnamese Government passed a resolution approving the draft treaty between Vietnam and Chile on waiving visas for holders of valid Chilean passports when entering Vietnam.
Currently, Chile along with Latin American Countries is a new market for Vietnam tourism industry and there are no direct flights between Vietnam and these countries. To travel to Vietnam from South America, the travelers can take flights by Singapore Airlines, Qatar and Emirates.
