For the reason of restructuring the airfleet and personel, Air Mekong plans to stop flying temporarily from 28Feb2013. Representative of Vietnam Aviation Authority also confirms that Air Mekong only registers the flight schedule till 28Feb2013 and has not registered the flight schedule for the time after 28Feb2013.

According to Vietnam Aviation Authority, one of the two runways at Saigon Tan Son Nhat Airport is to be closed for maintenance from 25February2013. The maintenance time is estimated to take 8 months. Because there will be only one runway in operation, flight schedules are to be adjusted accordingly.

28Jan2013 hosts a ceremony for direct flights between Moscow (Russia) and Nha Trang (Vietnam). At first, there is one flight per week between the two cities. At the end of 2013, Vietnam Airlines plans to have two direct flights per week. The new flights are to meet the increasing demand from Russian tourists for the travel destinations in the South Central Coast of Vietnam including Phan Thiet Mui Ne, Ninh Thuan and Nha Trang which are all known for untouched sandy beaches, luxury beach resorts and hotels and sunshine almost all year round.

6Jan2013 Cambodia Angkor Air begins its first flight between Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Airbus 321 aircrafts are to be used for these flights. This is the only daily flight between the two capital cities of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Earlier, Cambodia Angkor Air started its first flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok (Thailand) on 30Nov2012. On this route, the air firm uses ATR72 with 67 seats.
Cambodia Angkor Air, which started its operation in July 2009, is a joint-venture between Cambodia Government (51%) and Vietnam Airlines (49%). At the beginning, the airline only operated flights within Cambodia (Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, Siem Reap - Sihanouville), between Cambodia - Laos, and between Cambodia - Vietnam. 15Dec2012 VietJetAir begins its flights between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Phu Quoc Island (in Rach Gia Gulf, southern Vietnam). The daily flight departs Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat Airport at 07:15 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 08:05 A.M. The return flights leaves Phu Quoc International Airport at 08:40 A.M and arrives back at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 09:30 A.M. The flights are with Airbus 320 with 180 seats.

14Dec2012 Vietnam Airlines begins its first flights between Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island. There are 5 flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight from Hanoi departs Noi Bai Airport at 10:00 A.M and arrives at Phu Quoc Island at 12:25 P.M. The return flights departs Phu Quoc Island at 13:15 and arrives at Noi Bai Airport at 15:40.

9December2012 VietJetAir Started its first flight between Hanoi and Da Lat Vietnam. The flight is daily departing Hanoi Noi Bai Airport at 09:35A.M and arriving at Da Lat Lien Khuong Airport at 11:15 A.M. The return flight departs at 11:50 A.M. The air firm uses Airbus 320 with 180 seats for these flights.

Finnair has announced its plan to begin seasonal direct flights to Hanoi from Helsinki in 2013 summer. The airline plans 3 flights per week from 14June2013 to 27October2013. With these direct flights, it takes only 5 hours to get to Europe from Vietnam. Earlier, Finnair had established its representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

29Nov2012 VietJetAir, a privately-own air firm in Vietnam, announced its opening of flights between Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon, in Vietnam) and Bangkok (Thailand). The flights between these two cities are daily, 1 flight per day. From Ho Chi Minh City, the flight departs at 11:00 A.M and arrives at Bangkok SuvarnaBhumi at 12:30 P.M. The return flight departs Bangkok at 13:30 on the same day. There are huge demand for air travel between Vietnam and Thailand, mostly from leisure travel market. Travelers between the two countries are to benefit more from competitive prices.

The new international airport on Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam is to be open in December 2012. Construction work started in November 2008 and completed in December 2012 with a runway of 3,000m in length and 45m in width. The second runway of 3000mx25m is to be constructed in 2020.

The air firm operates one daily flights between these two cities using Airbus 320 aircrafts with 180 seats. The flight from Ho Chi Minh City departs Tan Son Nhat Airport at 10:35 A.M and arrives at Vinh at 12:20 P.M. The return flight from Vinh City departs at 13:05.
25Oct2012 According to news from People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam has submitted a plan for renewing Hue Phu Bai Airport which will lead to temporary closure of the airport from March to November 2013.
The document reveals that the project planning phase has been completed and that the runway of the airport be repaired for safe landings and taking-offs.
